Short implants are widely considered a trustable and common treatment for edentulous areas, but there are very few impacted long term publications monitoring the outcomes of such fixtures. Among them, the study carried out by the
SICOR group together with the
Department of Periodontics, University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, Philadelphia stands out. The objective of the research was to compare 8 years survival of 7.0- and 8.5-mm Premium implants placed in either a delayed or immediate loading protocol. Life table analysis not only confirms an
excellent survival rate in both clinical situations, but shows an even better survival rate in cases loaded immediately (92.00%) compared to those loaded according to conventional timings (90.9%). The results of this 8-year prospective study confirm the reliability of Premium Shorty implants both in the upper jaw and in the lower jaw.
